COURSE BUDDIES

Get your voice heard!

Course Buddies are first-year students who collect course feedback from other mursus and discuss the feedback with professors. During a course, the Course Buddy gets an amazing opportunity to get to know the professor in charge personally, and in return the professor gets valuable insights that improves the course as is progresses.

“For me, this was an extraordinary experience. Especially as I was interested in the topics of the course, it was fun to be in the box seat.”
- A Course Buddy

The Course Buddies for periods I and II are selected in September, and for periods III-V in December. The application form will be posted to Mursut 2022 -Facebook group.

HALLOPEDS

Student representatives in administration

Student Representatives in Administration, aka Hallopeds, are Aalto students who participate in the decision-making and development of our university at various levels of administration. There are student representatives in degree programmes, departments, schools, academic affairs committees and the university’s central administration.

AYY appoints student representatives for one calendar year, and all members of the Student Union are eligible to apply. The main application period takes place in November, but positions may become available throughout the year. There are around 250 student representative positions open annually.

Read more about hallopeds at AYY's site and halloped.fi.

KY'S SUBJECT CLUBS

Each major in the School of Business has its own subject club operating under KY and AYY. Each subject club is also the main channel of academic affairs lobbying/advocacy towards specific departments at the School of Business.

The clubs each have their own academic affairs representatives, who form an important link between departments and students. If you have anything academic affairs related you wish to bring to the attention of the department, these representatives are the best channel for that. Applying for academic affairs related subject club board positions is also an excellent way to get involved in academic affairs. The clubs inform members about board applications separately, but usually it’s done at the end of the year.

More about Subject Clubs

KOVA

Academic affairs committee

KY’s Academic Affairs Committee KOVA supervises student’s interests in cooperation with the School of Business. KOVA’s goal is to ensure that all students have the means to succeed in their studies. In order to get students’ voices heard, KOVA’s members regularly discuss academic related topics with the management of the School of Business.

In addition to advocacy work, KOVA maintains the Fringe Study Guide, elects the Teacher of the Year, selects the Course Buddies and arranges Proffalauluilta.

You can apply to KOVA once a year in November-December when the new members for committees are selected for the next calendar year!

KY BOARD

Academic affairs responsibility

There are members at the KY Board whose responsibility entails taking care of day-to-day life of academic affairs at KY. The duties of these board members include representing students at the meetings with the School’s management, presiding Academic Affairs Committee, coordinating hallopeds of the School of Business, developing KY’s advocacy work and much more!

You can always contact KY’s academic sector, if you need help or have questions related to studying at the School of Business! See our board members responsible for academic matters on the Contact Info page.
