FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Welcome to KY and Aalto!

On this brand new page, we have gathered important information and useful tips regarding both studies at Aalto BIZ and other relevant matters by keeping the needs of our international students in mind. Moving and studying abroad is often an exciting and unforgettable experience and we at KY would like to ensure a smooth start of studies for every international student from day one!

Even though Studying at Aalto BIZ page covers mostly study-related topics, we decided to make this International KY section a bit more comprehensive by including here not only study-related aspects but also living-, paper work-, student life-, volunteering- and culture-related matters. Most of the information has already been gathered on Aalto's International Students -website (link to the site below) and this info will be complemented with further KY and Aalto-specific information of e.g. tutors, student life, volunteering and other aspects.

Whether you are an international degree student, exchange student or someone looking for info regarding international matters, this page is made just for you!

1. WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU

Moving abroad, studying in a new university, meeting new friends and getting to know student activities and culture within a short time can be a very comprehensive experience. To ensure the smooth start for your studies, we have gathered a lots of information and contacts to guide you through your studies in Finland.

Usually, the first people contacting international students along with the school are our tutors, who are happy to help you make the most of your upcoming Mursu Fall. Every new student belongs to a tutor group led by a tutor. In addition, tutor trios of three tutor groups have been formed to make getting to know other fellow students and tutors even easier!

Tutors will contact the new students in their tutor group before the orientation week, instruct how the orientation week is going to progress and ensure that every mursu has other essential information before the "o-week" starts. In addition to this, international tutors assist in tasks such as airport pick-up and picking keys to student apartments. Your tutor should inform you about these practicalities before the orientation week and arrival.

Tutoring for new students is organized by KY's Tutor Committee in cooperation with the Aalto University and KY's Tutor Committee is led by the Tutor Coordinator Janina Juuvinmaa (040 831 6443, janina.juuvinmaa@ky.fi)

In addition to tutors and School of Business' contact persons, KY Office is happy to assist you in possible questions regarding KY and student life, that may emerge. Feel free to visit in KY Office aka Espilä (Konemiehentie 4, 02150 Espoo)! The best way to reach us is during service hours (on Tuesdays, from 15-17 and on Thursdays, from 12-14) by arriving to KY Member Services room close to the main entrance of Espilä. For further specific questions, please see the Contact Info page.
