Get to know Juhana from ABB

by
ABB
Juhana Kainulainen

Education: Master of Science, Economics and Business Administration, Aalto University School of Business (Accounting)

Current position: Global Finance Trainee, FP&A Analyst in Michigan. Next month, I will be transferring to the HQ in Zürich, to work as a Global Finance and Sustainability Analyst.

Why did you decide to apply to ABB?

Before applying and joining ABB, I did not know any business student in my university who had been working with ABB because it is seen more as an engineering company. I wasn’t aware of the wide range of possibilities that ABB offers for students outside of the field of Engineering.

However, when I saw the Global Early Talent Program Finance position open, I felt it would be a great opportunity to learn a lot in a rather short time as it lasts 2 years. I was looking for an international experience since I’ve enjoyed working in a multicultural environment. Coming to the industry was an unknown territory where I hadn’t been working beforehand. Happy to say – my ABB journey so far has been truly valuable, and I have not regretted joining ABB! From here you can find more information about the Global Early Talent Program

Describe your career path at ABB?

The graduate program I’m in consists of three different rotations. For the first six months, I worked with the local Process Automation Process Industries division and was able to get to know ABB Finland Finance organization through an interesting project where we as a result were able to enhance collaboration between different divisions in the Finance community.

Next, I had my HQ rotation in Zürich, which was done remotely, and I worked in parallel for Motion and ABB Switzerland’s country organization in the Controlling and Planning CoE team. I was able to work with many finance experts globally which was fascinating, and I was able to learn a lot in six months.

Currently, I’m on my last rotation, in Michigan, USA and I’m working for Robotics Finance organization as a FP&A Analyst. I have one month left of this rotation, as well as the program, and then I will start as a Global Finance and Sustainability Analyst in Zürich.

What is the best thing about ABB as an employer?

ABB is a big company with endless possibilities. With our new Open Job Market, you can find your next step wherever you want to take it. Also, especially for young talent, you will find great mentoring which has helped me to explore opportunities that I hadn’t initially thought of!

Is there something that has surprised you while working at ABB?

The exposure you are getting, whether you work for Finland, HQ in Zürich, or the USA, is amazing. I have had a chance to be working with global top management and people on each continent.
