The Backbone of the Sector
The Educational Task Force, led by the KY Board responsibles for Academic Affairs, consists of volunteers driven by advocacy and the desire to make an impact on how different educational matters are handled on both Aalto level and in BIZ.
Whether it be organizing events such as Tea and BIZcuits, coordinating and developing the Student Representative (Halloped) system or discussing what kinds of statements KY wishes to make regarding different topics, ETF fulfills some of the core missions of the Academic Affairs sector.
Additionally, the ETF and the board responsibles function as a low-threshold point of contact for all BIZ students.
Have something in mind? You’ll find the contact information of the board responsibles below, and be sure to come and say hi whenever we’re organizing an event at the School of Business!
Student representatives in administration
The student representatives in administration, aka Hallopeds, are Aalto students who participate in the decision-making and development of our university at various levels of administration. There are student representatives in degree programmes, departments, schools, academic affairs committees and the university’s central administration.
AYY appoints student representatives for one calendar year, and all members of the Student Union are eligible to apply. The main application period takes place in November, but positions may become available throughout the year. There are around 250 student representative positions open annually.
Read more about hallopeds at AYY's site and halloped.fi.
Each major in the School of Business has its own subject club operating under KY and AYY. Each subject club is also the main channel of academic affairs lobbying/advocacy towards specific departments at the School of Business.
The clubs each have their own academic affairs representatives, who form an important link between departments and students. If you have anything academic affairs related you wish to bring to the attention of the department, these representatives are the best channel for that. Applying for academic affairs related subject club board positions is also an excellent way to get involved in academic affairs. The clubs inform members about board applications separately, but usually it’s done at the end of the year.
This document outlines the opinions of KY - Aalto University Business Students on various matters related to academic affairs.
Every year, KY's members vote for the best teacher at Aalto School of Business. You can find a list of all past Teachers of the Year below.
