The programme starts in September 2023 and runs for 9 months. As a trainee at SEB you will get the opportunity to develop an extensive network, gain a deep understanding of the financial industry, and be professionally and personally challenged. During the Trainee Programme, practical work is interspersed with training to give you the best possible conditions for development and to have an exciting career at SEB. What you will be doing
We have three International Trainee positions for 2023. The interns will be based in the Corporate Loan Origination, Corporate Banking Sales and Private Wealth Management & Family Office teams.
Corporate Loan Origination - The Corporate Loan Origination team is responsible for advisory, origination, and structuring of loan financings for our large, mid corporate and family office clients in Finland. We operate in a dynamic and international environment with approximately 25 team members across the international sites, all highly ambitious and experienced professionals.
Our mission is to serve our existing clients and build new relationships across the segments through the lending product, where we are involved in (amongst other) acquisition financings, capex financings, IPO financings, sustainability-linked financings and/or general corporate purposes financings. The team strive to offer an attractive and international environment, and we frequently lever on experience and knowledge from our Loans, Syndications and DCM colleagues across all international sites.
You will work in project teams supporting the project manager in the execution of larger loan financing with collaboration across the client coverage units, credits, business committees, senior management, credit analysis, legal and frequently with Corporate Finance and DCM units. You are expected to take an active ownership of advisory driven pitch book presentations, assisting and supporting project managers in credit analysis, financial modelling (excel driven), origination, and structuring of financings (including preparation for internal pricing and structuring committees), preparing loan market updates and other relevant business and market related materials.
Corporate Banking Sales - Corporate Banking Sales covers three product areas, Cash and Liquidity Management, Trade Finance and Receivables and Supply Chain Financing. You will be mainly working around Cash and Liquidity Management and focusing on data analytics driven sales process coordination. We expect you to be active and gather information from various data advisory and related technology teams within SEB, manage the information and share the knowledge to sales team in Finland and other home markets to support in successful client dialogue around our data analysis-based offering.
Private Wealth Management & Family Office - Working as a Client Associate you will be an important part of the Private Wealth team, working in close collaboration with our Client Executives and other specialists in order to deliver the best private banking offering of SEB to our clients. In this role you will have dynamic tasks, a high level of personal responsibility and the opportunity to drive your own activities.
During the trainee programme you will simultaneously with working as a Client Associate, be familiarized with several tasks that will support your learning and competence for your role. The International trainee programme gives you the opportunity to develop an extensive network within the bank both in Helsinki and internationally, gain a deep understanding of the financial industry and be professionally and personally challenged.
After the trainee Programme you will, as a Client associate, work together with our Client Executives, have the overall responsibility for named Finnish clients and co-ordinating our business with them. You will support us in building a strong know-how within banking products and services, financials markets, credit risk assessment, relevant regulatory frameworks and financial advisory approaches to clients.
You will proactively manage the client relationship, drive and develop advisory work and analysis around these topics and participate in building customer dialogues alongside Client Executives. You will work closely together with a broad range of product specialists and teams within the bank and taking part in shared projects and initiatives.
Who we are looking for
Corporate Loan Origination - To succeed in this position, you are a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional. Relevant transaction experience from similar investment banking products, credit analysis and/or financial advisory is seen as an advantage.
Corporate Banking Sales - To succeed in your role with us requires capability to work independently but even more capability to build strong networks. It is very important to be able to structure information and formulate stories around it. Strong presentation and communication skills both in Finnish and English is a must. Previous experience in data analytics or data analytics driven advisory are a seen as a benefit. Interest in understanding how the highly digitised Cash and Liquidity Management area continues to standardise and expand throughout the client value chains is of course of great importance.
Private Wealth Management & Family Office - We are looking for you with passion for business and the dynamics of the economic market dynamics. We like you to challenge us, now and in the future. We are looking for someone who has a university degree and possibly some short work experience from either this specific client segment or other premium customer service. You are fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English. Swedish is seen as an advantage.
To thrive in this role, you have a high level of curiosity, drive and independence. You are humble, open and not afraid of trying things out even if not always successful. Your communication skills are good and you have the ability to gain the trust of the people you communicate with. You enjoy working in a team in close collaboration with colleagues and customers.
