Notice of liability

By using KY's premises, the user responsible for the reservation agrees to be bound by the rules, regulations and guidelines described on this page.

Operating against or failing to comply with these rules, regulations and guidelines will result in sanctions at the discretion of the KY Executive Director, ranging from monetary penalties (50–300€, excl. potential damages) to the ban from using KY's premises.

Failure to read through the rules, regulations and guidelines does not exempt the user of possible sanctions.

Premises' specifications

  • The total indoor area of the premises is 811m^2

  • Toilets are located in the entrance hall and behind the glass tile wall of the main
    event hall. An accessible toilet is located at the entrance hall

  • All spaces are accessible by wheelchair except for balcony areas, “sauna” and the
    stage

  • The maximum capacity of the premises is 300 people

  • Capacity and furniture:

    • 125 black folding chairs

    • 12 tables

    • Fixed stage with projector, speakers, microphones, and a mixer

    • Led light system with separate controls for the entrance hall and main
      event hall

    • Bar counter with refrigerated drawers

  • Kitchen equipment:

    • Domestic oven

    • Microwave

    • Stove

    • 2 domestic dishwashers

    • 2 domestic refrigerators

    • BMK IS NOT CURRENTLY EQUIPPED WITH TABLEWARE

Rules & regulations

The leasee is responsible for...

  • Filling out the extended time form well beforehand, if the event is to be extended
    past 1.00 am.

  • Requesting the programming of electronically locked doors from the service
    advisors at KY Office during service hours if they wish to keep doors open for any
    period of the reservation.

  • Carefully checking the premises upon arrival and filling and submitting the
    checklist accordingly.

  • Reporting if anything (furniture, tech, structures e.g. stage) has broken down or
    been damaged during the reservation.
    Damages result in a 100€ sanction (applicable only
       if damage is not reported) + the fixing or
       replacement cost.

  • Reporting if premises need disinfection (e.g., someone has vomited).
    If the need for disinfection is reported, there will
       be no sanction. If not, the lessee is responsible
       for paying 50-300€ for cleaning afterward.

  • Obeying the law, KY’s code of conduct, as well as good manners.

  • Respecting the maximum capacity of 300 people and keeping the noise level
    reasonable.

  • Cleaning and emptying the premises before the reservation has ended.

It is forbidden to...

  • Sell alcoholic beverages.

  • Smoke outside the designated smoking area.

  • Block the doors open (results in an alarm).

  • Use silk paper, confetti, duct tape, packing tape, or zip ties in decorations.

  • Use candles or other open flames on the premises.

  • Use the hazer/smoke machine indoors without permission from the KY Office.

  • Remove or alter the connections of fixed electronic systems.

Additionally:

  • Be mindful of the fixed show tech equipment when attaching decorations to e.g.
    the ceiling to avoid damaging the equipment, risking injury, or posing a fire hazard.
    The equipment is heavy and gets warm, so attaching decorations or covering
    them is forbidden.

  • Ensure that the maintenance areas and fire safety passages remain clear at all
    times.

  • In case of serious damage to the property (e.g., if a window or a toilet breaks)
    contact Lassila and Tikanoja immediately at +358 10 636 7000 and notify the KY
    Office about the situation.

  • In serious emergencies, such as fires, call 112.

After the event

  • Clean up trash and tidy up the premise’s general appearance

  • Dispose of trash, cans, and bottles appropriately in the recycling bins outside

  • Make sure that no dirty dishes are lying around

  • Lay chairs and tables neatly back to their storage room

  • Report broken chairs and tables and place them in the entrance hall of the BMK

  • Take your own equipment and decorations with you and deliver lost-and-found
    items to Espilä, in the lobby behind TuoMela cabinet

  • Turn off all lights

  • Ensure that the space is empty and all doors are locked when you leave

  • Return keys to the return box at the front door of Espilä

Audio & lights

At the start of the reservation

  • Turn on the main power (photo). This turns on everything. You don’t have to touch speakers or cables.

Audio and microphones

  • BMK has a stationary PA system connected to a mixer at the DJ table

  • Regarding audio you do not need to touch anything beyond the mixer, e.g. speakers or cables leading to speakers, everything should be ready and powered up

  • Using microphones:

  • By default, there are two microphones. The mic receivers are located under the DJ table. They should be on after turning on the main power.

  • The microphones have chargeable batteries. The charger is built into the microphone receivers located below the DJ table. 

  • The volume of these microphones is controlled using the volume sliders on the mixer at the speaker’s booth (labels “Mic 1” and “Mic 2”).

  • If you're using other mics, connect microphone receivers to the mixer with an XLR cable using the connectors at the top row of the mixer.

Party lights

  • BMK has a stationary DMX-controlled party light system

  • There are 2 controllers (light tables). A separate one for the hallway/bar area and another for the stage.

  • Hallway lights:

  • To use the lights in the hallway/bar area press the ON/OFF button on the light controller (photo).

  • Use the color switch to change the color of the different light combinations.

  • Use the brightness slider to control the brightness of the different light combos or to turn them off completely.

  • Stage area lights:

  • The light table turns on automatically after turning on the main power.

  • To use the lights:

  • 1. Make sure that the “GRAND MASTER” slider is moved up.

  • 2. On the middle of the light table press the black button with the label “CUE” underneath.

  • 3. Use the 20 different sliders on the left-hand side of the light table to use the light presets.

Projectors

  • BMK has a stationary projector in the main area, facing the stage.

  • The remote for the projector is on the DJ table. Use this remote to turn on the projector.

  • Connect your device to the HDMI port located in front of the DJ table using a HDMI cable.

  • If this does not work, make sure that the “source” for the projector is HDBaseT.

  • The projector screen behind the stage is controlled (up/down) with buttons located on the pilar 2 meters above the main power switch :D
