Hi! I'm Marko, and I am a PhD student in economics at Aalto. Having done my bachelor's and master's studies at Aalto, I have a wide variety of KY experience, including serving on the board of Aalto Economics and being elected to the KY RepCo in the previous election. My primary experience, however, comes from being involved in KY's improv musical theatre club KY-Speksi, where I have been a singer and an actor, and where I am currently serving as Executive Producer.

Räty
Hi, My name is Okko Räty, and I'm a third year student. The KY community has become quite a big part of my life during my first study years, and I feel like the more I give to the community, the more it gives back to me in memories and cherishable moments. I'm running for the representative council so that I can influence KY's decision making and make sure that the community is on the right track. For me, the most important thing is to keep the KY spirit alive in all of us and that we keep our own distinguished and unique identity in Aalto University. Everyone should feel welcomed in our Dollar Green community.

Tuure
Pelkonen
Hi! I’m Tuure Pelkonen, 2nd year Economics student. I’m on the ticket for KY representative council to make sure your voice as a business student is heard in the representative work of our community. My theses for this election are dry-cut and simple: 1. We must ensure that the intake of new students doesn’t grow to unsustainable levels and 2. Our amazing community of committees, subcommittees and clubs will be supported by that wealth. To make sure the business student community had the opportunity in getting their voice heard, I – alongside with a few great friends – founded KY-PC this year. However, during these times it is no longer enough to get our voice out there – we need to make it weight. In Repco, I will do just that. During my free time, I enjoy playing chess and running. Let me put that endurance and the strategic mindset to work for your advantage – I will never leave you hanging.

Mohit
Goyal
Hi, My name is Mohit Goyal and I am from the ‘Land of Spices’, India. As for my introduction, I have been an athlete my whole life. From being a blue belt in taekwondo to being a national level basketball player or just simply jumping out of an airplane flying at 15000 feet, I do it all. Entering the college campus with the type of mindset I developed from the personal and shared experiences with my various teammates and the difficulties I have been honoured to overcome. I plan to join the students organization and I wish to share and promote the sense of a world without borders; borders of race, color, gender, etc. I hope to contribute meaningfully to the campus community by celebrating cultural diversity and fostering inclusivity. I want to create spaces where students can share their stories and listen to others, building the same kind of connections I experienced during the championships. My upbringing has also shaped my commitment to giving back. From a young age, I’ve participated in charity marathons, volunteered at NGOs, and organized donation drives. These experiences taught me that service isn’t just about providing help—it’s about showing up with empathy and forming genuine connections. Through my experiences, I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always come from grand achievements. Often, it’s in the small, meaningful interactions that challenge our assumptions and invite us to see the world through someone else’s eyes. These moments shape who we are and guide us toward the future we hope to create. For me, that future is one where empathy and understanding pave the way for connection, learning, and a better world. So, that’s it for the introduction and I look forward to sharing and experiencing some more adventures that may be fun or extremely fun to do.

Vettenniemi
Hi all! I’m Jaakko Vettenniemi, a first-year Marketing Master’s student who enjoys content creation, investing, and voluntary work. I joined Aalto BIZ this spring, and I’m eager to become an active part of KY! My goal in the Representative Council is simple: to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to be part of the KY community. A strong sense of belonging and inclusivity creates the foundation for a community that truly supports its students not only in their studies and social life, but also in preparing for the future. That’s why I want to expand opportunities for students in networking, career development, and entrepreneurship. The job market is challenging, and I know how frustrating it can be to send application after application, only to be rejected. KY can help by offering opportunities to develop your skillsets, valuable connections, and platforms that bring students closer to their dream careers. Let’s build a KY where everyone feels included and supported in studies, career, and beyond. Jaakko

For the past two years, I’ve been helping develop tutoring as part of the Tutor Committee. Since August, I’ve also been working at the KY Office as a Corporate Relations Coordinator. Zuleika
Mohamed
Hei! I’m Zuleika Mohamed, an elected representative for Aalto Mikkeli’s International Business students. So far, it has been an honour to work with the dedicated, warm, and sociable cohort that is International Business, and it's our classic Mikkeli spunk that I wish to contribute to KY. In true Mikkeli fashion, we ensure that each teacher concludes their three-week module with a memorable memento and handwritten letter from us, which I and a fellow class representative fundraise for. It is a tradition that represents the values that this short time in Mikkeli has instilled in me, which I strive to implement in KY. I have moved seven times all around the world, which has made me an adept cultural communicator and confident speaker. Wherever I move, I make sure to contribute to the local communities. In recent times, I have coordinated with a local Finnish NGO to do food drives in the Helsinki area, volunteered at a local animal shelter to help cats assimilate to human companionship, and collected seeds to replant more than 50 oak trees. In terms of hobbies, I have dabbled in all kinds of mismatched activities, from content creation to dance to entrepreneurship, no-code, and UI/UIX creation. All in all, I aspire to create an environment where all personalities can thrive no matter how weird the interest or how niche the playlist. So, if a peer ever catches me in the hall and strikes up a conversation about hobbies, I can’t help but suspect we’d have one in common. After all, that's the Mikkeli way!

RepCo seems like the next natural step in my KY journey. Having seen how KY has evolved over the past few years and having been a part of that, I would love to keep contributing and help determine what KY looks like now and in the years to come, especially with big changes happening like the purchase of the new KY Building and the Mikkeli campus being moved to Otaniemi. KY’s Representative Council

The Representative Council (RepCo, edustajisto or “edari” in Finnish) is  the highest-decision making body at KY that determines what KY looks like now and in the future. The duties of the RepCo include discussing timely topics at KY, choosing the KY board and approving the yearly action plan as well as the budget. In the term 2023-2024, the RepCo has for example discussed and made decisions on the new KY Building, Suomen Ekonomit, aTalent, food options at KY events and changes in KY’s committees.

The Representative Council consists of 21 members and up to 200 deputy members. If an actual member can’t make it to the meeting, a deputy member steps in. The Council operates at the very heart of KY, so it’s an excellent viewpoint to everything that’s happening in our community. No prior experience is needed - every kylteri can be a great RepCo member!

Every KY member is eligible to run and vote in the elections. The Council operates fully in English, so Finnish skills are not required. Meetings are held approximately once a month in Otaniemi, excluding summer time.

AYY Representative Council Elections and Kylterirengas

Respectively, the AYY Representative Council is the highest decision-making body at AYY. It consists of 45 members and decides about AYY’s major directions, student housing and guidelines. KY and AYY Representative Council Elections are held at the same time!

The biggest difference compared to KY’s RepCo, is that AYY’s Representative Council consists of electoral alliances that are formed based on the members’ study background or political views. Us business students are represented by the Kylterirengas electoral alliance that goes by the slogan “Otaniemi spirit, kylteri heart”. The mission of Kylterirengas is to voice out the business students’ opinions into matters that concern the whole Aalto community. Over 25% of Aalto students are kylteris, so it's about time to make our presence felt!

Read more and run in AYY’s elections at ayy.fi/vaalit! In order to run as a candidate through Kylterirengas, indicate Kylterirengas as your electoral alliance in the nomination form and inform Kylterirengas’ chair @kasperpalmqvist on Telegram.
