Atte

Hello! I’m Atte, a second-year Master’s student majoring in the Strategic Management in a Changing World program. I’ve had an incredible time at KY ever since starting my studies back in 2024, which includes having the privilege of being a member of the Sports and Wellbeing Committee (LiHy) this year in addition to acting as a tutor this fall for those starting in the very same program as I did a year ago. At KY, I especially feel that managing the overall wellbeing of our members is of the utmost importance in addition to actively supporting our members’ right to a level of education that makes Aalto an attractive choice in the first place for both domestic and international prospecting students. Looking forward to seeing you all around Otaniemi!

Pyry
Reinikainen
Hi everyone! I’m Pyry Reinikainen, a second-year accounting student on a mission to bring KY closer to every kylteri’s daily student life! I believe the ‘KY spirit’ doesn’t just live in our big traditions and flagship events but also in small ground-level events and activities that cater to the interests and hobbies of every kylteri! This I believe is best achieved by our amazing clubs and associations that draw every member of our large community together by offering something to everyone. I also want to listen and represent all ideas and needs that arise from within our community and to bring them up for discussion. And that’s why I’m running for the Representative Council! To ensure that every club and association, new and old, gets the tools and the chance of giving something to our community and by making all kylteris heard, strengthen our very own KY-spirit! Want to hear more about me or of any of my other agendas? Hit me up on telegram @pyrymaani!

Laakso
Hello! I am Emmi Laakso, a second-year ISM student. I am running for KY representative council because I want to affect the important issues in KY. I want KY to be a place where everyone feels included, supported, and valued, like how my own year as a KY-Sub board member in 2025 has treated me. I believe that my year as a KY-Sub trip responsible and also harassment contact person has given me a good insight of KY's current topics and an understanding of the values and operating methods. Through these roles, I’ve seen what makes events successful, and what both international and local students appreciate and on the other side wish to improve in KY. I believe that these experiences have prepared me well to represent not only local but also exchange students effectively and contribute to making KY an even more functional and welcoming community for everyone.

Marija

Hey! My name is Marija Vasileca and I'm a business student in Mikkeli campus and I would love to apply for the upcoming elections to RepCo. I am a very enthusiastic, open minded and responsible person. Before coming to Aalto, Mikkeli, life gave me some wonderful opportunities to explore myself in organizing events and making sure everyone is satisfied. I used to be a representative in my dancing ensemble , as well as a part of the school parliament. I was obliged to work in teams to organise various different events as well as being a bridge between the class or the group and people in charge. I truly believe that in order for the group to succeed, people must be heard. Therefore, I want to listen to and uplift both Mikkeli and Otaniemi students. I want to learn from them and become better, as well as making their experience in Aalto more eventful.. I also wish for my student years to be as memorable as possible, but also want to spend my time in Aalto so that it would positively affect me in the future. Therefore I am 100% certain that KY RepCo is a place for me.

Hi! I'm Jaki, a fourth-year BIZ student. During my years as an active KY member, I have volunteered in many ways — mostly in different clubs and, this year, in the Tutor Committee. Through these roles, I have gotten to know KY better and better, and at the same time, my desire to influence KY itself has grown stronger. That is why I am now running in the KY Representative Council election! What sets me apart from other candidates is my strong interdisciplinary experience. I have been active in many parts of Otaniemi and understand well the perspectives of different groups outside KY. I have always wanted KY to be more integrated into the Otaniemi community, and I’m happy to see real progress on that front. However, while I strongly support cooperation with other students in Otaniemi, I also believe KY must not lose its unique character and spirit. KY has a rich history and proud traditions, and those should be maintained even as we build stronger ties with the broader community. The coming years will be exciting in many ways. Most notably, the new KY Building will bring big changes for all BIZ students. RepCo will play an important role in shaping KY’s direction during this time, and I would be thrilled to be a part of it. With my diverse experience, I am confident I could bring real value to RepCo.

KY’s Representative Council

The Representative Council (RepCo, edustajisto or “edari” in Finnish) is  the highest-decision making body at KY that determines what KY looks like now and in the future. The duties of the RepCo include discussing timely topics at KY, choosing the KY board and approving the yearly action plan as well as the budget. In the term 2023-2024, the RepCo has for example discussed and made decisions on the new KY Building, Suomen Ekonomit, aTalent, food options at KY events and changes in KY’s committees.

The Representative Council consists of 21 members and up to 200 deputy members. If an actual member can’t make it to the meeting, a deputy member steps in. The Council operates at the very heart of KY, so it’s an excellent viewpoint to everything that’s happening in our community. No prior experience is needed - every kylteri can be a great RepCo member!

Every KY member is eligible to run and vote in the elections. The Council operates fully in English, so Finnish skills are not required. Meetings are held approximately once a month in Otaniemi, excluding summer time.

AYY Representative Council Elections and Kylterirengas

Respectively, the AYY Representative Council is the highest decision-making body at AYY. It consists of 45 members and decides about AYY’s major directions, student housing and guidelines. KY and AYY Representative Council Elections are held at the same time!

The biggest difference compared to KY’s RepCo, is that AYY’s Representative Council consists of electoral alliances that are formed based on the members’ study background or political views. Us business students are represented by the Kylterirengas electoral alliance that goes by the slogan “Otaniemi spirit, kylteri heart”. The mission of Kylterirengas is to voice out the business students’ opinions into matters that concern the whole Aalto community. Over 25% of Aalto students are kylteris, so it's about time to make our presence felt!

Read more and run in AYY’s elections at ayy.fi/vaalit! In order to run as a candidate through Kylterirengas, indicate Kylterirengas as your electoral alliance in the nomination form and inform Kylterirengas’ chair @kasperpalmqvist on Telegram.
