Culture Producer's blog

by
Julius Hannula

Hi!

I’m Julius, also known as Aksel, Juuso, Juusto or Julle and over the last year I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work as KY’s Culture Producer or Kultsi among friends.

My work has been filled with one-of-a-kind moments, incredible people and huge events. As basic as it may sound, my favorite part about KY and its culture is its people. The best part about working as KY’s Kultsi is spending weeks or months organizing and coordinating an event and then seeing the results of your efforts, with hundreds or even thousands of people having fun at Mursujaiskuntis or Hukkaputki or Wappukulkue or any of the tens of events the culture sector organizes each year.

I’ve also had the privilege to train, recruit and work with dozens of motivated and incredible people who volunteer their time to KY. A massive thank you and shout out to KUVA (both of them :D), the Annual Ball Committee, SUB, KUJ and NESU and all the other volunteers who spend countless hours organizing awesome events for our members.

Aside from training volunteers my duties also include managing the budget for KY’s culture sector, project management and communicating with both internal and external stakeholders. Through making a bunch of mistakes and, at least hopefully, succeeding a few times, I’ve gained a huge amount of experience and learned a lot over my time at KY.

The best part about working at KYSTO is the incredible atmosphere. Everybody is always ready to help each other out when needed and I haven’t had a single day when I haven’t had fun at work.

If you have any questions about working as KY’s Culture Producer or work at KYSTO in general, feel free to send me a message or just pop by Espilä to talk! I sit behind the big, green KY letters in Lasten Avo :D
