Dear KY,
It’s been a while since we last talked. Last year, me et alia told the distressed story of the Corporate Relations Committee. In the story, a prophet was mentioned, who would bring the great institution of light to life. I didn’t know it back then, but turns out I transcended the prophecy and continued sculpting the story of KY, this year on a grander scale. One of our main objectives this year has been the creation of the new strategy for KY, on which our successors will rely upon, as the bright light at the end of the never-ending tunnel. Though, there is still a lot of work to be done for the institution to come to life.
The main tasks of my work consist of leading meetings with the executive board and other KY office staff. Twice a week, we hold sessions known as “Morning Schools,” where we address key topics and make decisions—both large and small. Our board is particularly focused on reflective questions such as, “Why are we doing this, and for whom?” and “What would our members genuinely want to see?”
While most of my work is concentrated on leading the board and office together with the Executive Director, there’s plenty of room for other fun things, like setting the main direction for KY together with the Representative Council, although one of the most interesting aspects of this year, for me personally, has been meeting our stakeholders. I’ve flown to Bergen, Norway twice this year to meet my counterparts from other Nordic universities, I’ve met with all the Finnish chairs of business school associations around Finland and engaged actively with Suomen Ekonomit, particularly one of their local organizations FLEX.
It’s been a real blast working for KY the past two years, and I hope I’ve left a positive impression and
contribution to both the community, and the future of KY. I highly encourage you to apply to the board, as you’ll learn A) a ton about yourself, B) a ton about other people and organizations, C) get to meet fantastic people and work in a great community, making a real impact. Most importantly, you’ll undoubtedly have the best years of your life, forging unforgettable memories to remember forever. Please don’t hesitate to contact me!
The end is never the end. It’s just another beginning,
