Hi! I’m Veera and I have been the KY Board member responsible for Culture and New Students this year.
At the beginning of last year, applying for the KY Board still felt like a very distant possibility. However, as I spent the year as a member of KUVA, my motivation to give back to our community and help make it even better continued to grow. And by November, the idea of applying for the KY Board had become more appealing. Looking back now, what an eventful and rewarding year it has been!
This year has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people, whether through working with the KY Office, leading my own 17-member committee, or meeting business students from across Finland and the Nordics. The year has been filled with KY traditions, from the Annual Ball and Wappukuntis to Mursujaiset, as well as organizing 10 amazing events together with the fantastic KUVA’26 <3
Looking ahead has also been a major part of this year, both at the board level and within my own sectors. The upcoming KY Building and its opening ceremonies have raised many interesting questions. How will the new building shape our community and strengthen KY’s presence in Otaniemi? And how can we continue to honour KY’s traditions while adapting the scale of our events to meet changing needs?
Now that the year is coming to an end, I can confidently say that applying for the KY board has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The people I’ve met, both new faces and familiar ones, along with the incredible experiences I could never have imagined at the beginning of the year, have made this journey truly unforgettable. If you’re interested in shaping the future of KY's cultural scene and welcoming over 1100 new students into our community every year, applying for the KY Board might just be the perfect opportunity for you!
