Hi! I’m Vilhelmiina, Academic Affairs, Alumni & Elections responsible for the KY Board 2025.
If someone had told me last fall that I’d be on the KY Board a year later, I probably would’ve laughed. The idea felt unrealistic — I’d only been involved in the Academic Affairs Committee and taken part in the Representative Council elections during my first year. I thought you needed to be way more “KY-active” before even thinking about applying.
Then one day, a friend encouraged me to go for it. I remember laughing it off at first, but their encouragement stuck with me. The more I thought about it, the more it started to feel possible — and before I knew it, I was writing my application, thinking, why not give it a try?
Fast forward a year, and I can honestly say that joining the Board has been one of the best decisions I’ve made during my studies. This year has taught me so much, challenged me in the best ways, and given me a group of people I’ll never forget.
My main responsibility has been academic affairs. I’ve attended countless meetings with the School of Business faculty, discussed topics like new majors and curriculum, and worked to make sure students’ voices are heard. It’s been fascinating to see how much actually happens behind the scenes — and even more rewarding to see concrete changes take shape. On top of that, Emma and I are in charge of the Representative Council elections, which are still ahead and definitely one of our biggest projects of the year.
But what has made this year truly special is the people. The KY Board 2025 is full of the most supportive, fun, and inspiring individuals. We’ve shared intense workdays, endless laughter, and unforgettable memories at events — both serious and silly ones. I’ve also had the chance to meet amazing students from other schools in Aalto and in other business schools, which has been such a cool way to see how things work.
If you’ve ever considered applying for the KY Board or are curious about academic affairs responsible -position, don’t hesitate to reach out — I’d love to share more. This position has truly been the most interesting and rewarding experience of my KY journey so far.
Wishing you all a wonderful fall <3
